An early fall storm system will bring widespread chances of rain to much of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa this weekend. The highest rain chances will be Saturday and Sunday (70 to 90 percent), though isolated showers will be possible along and south of I-80 Friday evening (15 to 25 percent chance). Most will see over an inch of rain, with the heaviest rainfall totals expected along and south of the I-80 corridor. Here, some areas may get 2 to 3 inches of rain, with localized amounts up to 5 inches by the end of the weekend. However, the flooding potential appears low at this time as soils are dry from the lack of rain this month. There will still be a low-end flash flooding threat where high rainfall rates can persist.
